You can run, but you can’t hide

Suburban couple wastes some energy by pre-heating car in driveway, oddly leaving toddler strapped in car seat in not-yet-toasty minivan:

She was gone a mere 10 seconds, she says, but when she stepped outside the van was backing out of the driveway, with her blond, blue-eyed toddler inside.

(All the more poignant somehow when it’s a blond and blue-eyed toddler, don’t you think?)

The family is, understandably, shocked to find their neighbourhood is crimeridden, just like rough inner-city neighbourhoods, such as the Beaches.

The family moved [to Oakville] five years ago to escape big-city crime, after a panhandler hit Ms. Lahey on the head near their former home in the Beaches, a trendy east-end Toronto neighbourhood near the shore of Lake Ontario.
