Constitution in the crosshairs

Huckabee’s not in awe of the venerable U.S. Constitution, as he told a Michigan audience on Sunday:

“[Some of my opponents] do not want to change the Constitution, but I believe it’s a lot easier to change the constitution than it would be to change the word of the living God, and that’s what we need to do is to amend the Constitution so it’s in God’s standards rather than try to change God’s standards,”

No doubt — although that attitude does seem to run counter to the presidential Oath of Office, which reads (emphasis added):

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.

Of course, since the oath itself is enshrined in the Constitution — Article II, Section I — could it be that today’s God’s standards require a rewrite there, too?
